<hi style=afpcap>The success of the C-82 Packet enabled Fairchild to develop the twin-boom, high wing design with a more capacious fuselage and different, more powerful engines as the C-119 Flying Boxcar. The larger fuselage permitted an increase in the volume of cargo carried over a greater distance. The C-119 was designed to deliver troops and freight within a theatre of operations, and could accommodate a number of fully equipped paratroopers who were dispatched through the aft side door or through the rear of the aircraft with the clam shell doors removed. The C-119 saw active duty during the Korean War with production stepped up especially for this conflict. </hi>
